Many of the Navy Museum's newer exhibits aim to tell stories of the Navy during peacetime, including lesser known stories of exploration, humanitarianism, and scientific advancement.

"The Future is Now: The Navy's Lighter Than Airships" explores the fantastical giant dirigibles of the 1930s and 40s that sparked the country's imagination and inspired countless tales of science fiction. The Navy's Airships were very real, though, and this exhibit dives into the (sometimes catastrophic) experimentation with materials, fuel sources, and the military capabilities of these larger than life aircraft. The exhibit features historic photographs, artwork, and imagery inspired by airships, as well as genuine test models, interactives, and mulitimedia.
